Gillian Hasberry - Head Veterinary Surgeon
I qualified from Cambridge University in 1986 and worked for 10 years in predominantly small animal practices in Derbyshire before joining Hayes and Borrajo in Leicester in 1996. This coincided with their aquisition of the Oadby branch and I have enjoyed helping this part of the practice group grow and develop. My main clinical interests are dentistry and soft tissue surgery. My spare time is largely filled with my horses, competing in all riding club activities but especially dressarge and endurance. I have seen a lot of changes at Oadby since 1996 and now I look forward to working with Medivet for the benefit of our clients and their pets.
The Oadby branch of Medivet is situated approximately 3 miles southeast of Leicester city centre in the small town of Oadby. The Oadby veterinary practice was first established in 1962 by veterinary surgeon John Henwood. It was acquired by Michael Hayes in 1996 as part of his 3 branch, small animal practice in Leicester. Mike Hayes was joined in partnership by John Borrajo in 1991 and the practice became Hayes and Borrajo’s Veterinary Surgery. Upon the retirement of Mike Hayes the practice’s name changed to Borrajo’s Veterinary Clinics. Borrajo’s Veterinary Clinics became part of the Medivet Group in 2010.
The Oadby branch underwent extension in 2007. The extension made it possible for us to provide much improved kennelling and operating facilities plus additional consulting facilities. There is even a small car park. Following the extension we were able to achieve RCVS Accredited Tier 2 status as part of a practice standards scheme which ensures that we offer the highest standard of veterinary care. Under this scheme the RCVS carry out regular, rigorous inspections to ensure that these high standards are maintained. In addition, the Oadby branch of Medivet is a veterinary nurse training practice.
