I joined the practice in 1999, having qualified from Cambridge vet school in 1996. I then became a partner in the practice in 2004. Clinically, my interests include ophthalmology (eye cases), ultrasound scanning, medical cases and keyhole surgery. I passed a post graduate examination in ophthalmology in 2023. When I’m not working, I enjoy cycling, both on and off road, and play local league table tennis. I have two children and a ‘sprollie’ dog called Archie.

I graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2017, and worked in a busy first opinion and referral practice in Cheshire after graduation. I joined the Alfreton practice in November 2020. I am passionate about emergency and critical care. I enjoy the challenge of working in a fast-paced environment and helping animals in need. I'm Aurelie. Originally from Belgium, I finished my studies back in 2014. Then I took a leap across the channel to England for a short stint, thinking I would gain some veterinary experience and have a bit of an adventure. Turns out, I fell in love with the place (and my future husband!) and never left! I got my certificate in advanced veterinary practice from the University of Liverpool in 2021, and spent six years as a first opinion vet in a referral hospital before joining the lovely Alfreton crew in January 2023. I enjoy a lot of different aspects of veterinary, but have a special interest in medicine and imaging. When I'm not at work, you'll find me scrambling in the Peak District with my crazy Springer Spaniel Curie. I'm also big on cooking, crafting, travelling and hanging out with friends. I am also a proud parent to two rescue cats and a lively little daughter who keeps me on my toes.

I completed a rotating internship under the supervision of veterinary specialists, and have been working the last years in veterinary referrals hospitals. In the last few years, I achieved a certificate in geriatrics and gerontology, as I believe elderly pets deserve all our love and support in their last years of life. This year, I passed the Postgraduate Certificate in Veterinary Professional studies with the University of Liverpool, and the Certificate in Advance Veterinary Practice from the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons. At present I continue striving to progress academically in soft tissue surgery and emergency and critical care. I have been working within the veterinary profession since 2005. I started as a receptionist and then in 2012 I decided that I would like to do more so started my Veterinary Nurse Training and I have been a Qualified Veterinary Nurse since 2016. I have worked in few different practices from small independent practices or corporate practices to a big referral practice working within the theatre and anaesthesia department. I have enjoyed working as an all round Nurse, caring for inpatients, assisting in surgeries/procedures, monitoring patients under anaesthesia and many other jobs that go on behind the scenes. However, one element of our role as Nurses that I wasn't able to do as much as I liked to was consulting so in January 2023 I started here at Medivet Alfreton in my new role as 'Consulting Nurse' and I am thoroughly enjoying it. I have a keen interest in nutrition and behaviour so I really enjoy my weight clinic sessions and socialisation/confidence building sessions. I have 2 dogs, a miniature labradoodle called Milo and a Chihuahua x Shih Tzu called Mavis, along with a beautiful long haired cat called Ripley (named after the lead character in the movie 'Alien' and not the town) In my spare time, I love to go out walking with the dogs and my husband, dragging our teenage son along with us, as well as chilling at home watching movies, crime drama series or reading. I also love to do some crafting whether it be sewing, making things with my Cricut machine like personalised cards, vinyl cut outs to go on t-shirts, coasters, mugs, etc or playing games with my family.

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in 2016, starting my career in a small 1st opinion clinic and moving quickly into the head nurse role. Then I choose to move to emergency and critical care nursing here at Alfreton at the start of 2019 initially as part of Vets Now but deciding to apply to stay here when Medivet started running the out of hours service themselves because the clinic and team were too good to move away from. I work solely nights and currently can't imagine doing anything else. I have keen interests in emergency and critical care, diagnostic imaging and wound management and constantly try to improve my knowledge within those areas. Outside of work at home I have 2 dogs; a husky (Tiberius) and a husky x malamute (Brutus) a cat (Montgomery) and 2 backyard chickens. I also enjoy spending time on my grandparents' smallholding when I can, with our horses. I love to ski, watch the rugby and go hiking and hope to complete the three peaks this year with my husband and young son.

Always impressed, but on Saturday when I took my dog for a 6 month check up, I felt vet Anna went above and beyond. She was fantastic with my very nervous dog, but I also took my Grandaughter with me with her tiny toy dog. She told Anna that her dog needed to see the vet and at the end of the check up, Anna asked for the toy dog to be put on the table and asked what was wrong. She got her torch out to look into his eyes and diagnosed a slightly sore eye which lots of cuddles, kisses and walks would improve. It made my Grandaughter’s day. What pure genuine kindness from Anna. Beautiful lady inside and out. Thank you so much 😊

There is no question this veterinary practice is good, I just wish vet care was more affordable, as animals are an integral part of our health and well being. It's just getting to a point where a lot of us just cant afford it anymore.
