Shilpi Prasad

Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I've worked at Medivet Langley since 2013. I qualified over 12 years ago from the Royal Veterinary College and have worked in small animal practice in the local area ever since. As well as having a wide range of expertise in both medical and surgical cases, I'm also an LVI, meaning I can prepare pets for international travel. I hold a certificate in feline medicine. In my spare time I enjoy going to the theatre and cinema and love being in the garden where I especially like growing vegetables. I'm also a member of a local book group.

Very reliable practice, easy to get an appointment. They don't push the monthly subscription service, but if you are going to do the recommended vax and worm/flee treatments then it's worth signing up for to make it more affordable and spread the costs.

Registered with these guys since we moved to Datchet almost 4 years ago with a cat and a Beagle, Excellent service, Really helpful and their prices are very fair. |oan on reception is great and very attentive. Shilpi, just one of the vets in the practice, knows her stuff and really does care, I really would not go anywhere else. Highly recommended 10/10

My visit to Medivet Langley left me very disappointed. What began as a routine health check-up for my dog quickly turned into a concerning situation upon discovering a heart murmur, necessitating a heart scan. However, the vet informed it was too late to schedule an appointment for the scan due to the time of day. Despite assurances of a follow-up the next day, I had to take the initiative to chase down an appointment. Eventually, I received a callback with a date, but was directed to Medivet Richmond to arrange the appointment myself. Unfortunately, upon contacting the Richmond clinic, they couldn't find my dog's procedure in their records. Despite this setback, they promised to book me in for the next available appointment and obtain the necessary updates from the Langley branch, however the lack of clarity regarding the scan process added to my concerns. Being hurriedly told to drop off my anxious dog between 8-9am and await his turn for the scan without any indication of wait time was distressing. This disregard for pet owners' schedules and the uncertainty surrounding the procedure's timeline left me feeling frustrated and undervalued. The overall experience showcased a glaring lack of communication and professionalism that is unacceptable when dealing with beloved pets. Trusting supposed experts who exhibit such poor communication skills and disregard for pet owners' concerns is disheartening. Expressing my frustrations to the vet only exacerbated the situation. Instead of reassurance and compassion, I was met with rudeness and dismissal. My concerns about my pet's welfare were brushed aside, further solidifying my decision to seek care elsewhere. In conclusion, I no longer feel comfortable entrusting my dog's care to Medivet. Their handling of the situation has left me very cautious of this vets culture and I am now determined to find a veterinary practice that prioritises communication, professionalism, and genuine concern for their patients and their owners. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I am providing an update three days post my review above. Following my decision not to move forward with Medivet, I took my dog to Forest Hill Vet in Windsor. The Vet there was lovely and listened to all my concerns, there they conducted a thorough examination on my dog but couldn't detect any signs of a heart murmur on him. As it was quite late in the evening , and to ensure absolute certainty, she suggested I return the next day for further evaluation by her colleagues. Upon my return, three other veterinarians also examined my dog and confirmed the absence of any heart murmur. I'm naturally relieved that my dog is healthy. However, this experience has left me quite upset with Medivet Langley. They were prepared to subject my dog to unnecessary stress and a potentially costly heart scan that ultimately wasn't needed. This could have resulted in a significant financial burden of £1200 if they had proceeded. If you're new and seeking veterinary care, I highly recommend avoiding Medivet Langley. In contrast, Forest Hill Vets in Windsor demonstrated not only honesty but also compassion towards my concerns. They truly went the extra mile to alleviate the worries instilled by Medivet. @Medivet, in your response to my review, you've requested my contact details. However, it's evident that you already have this information in your system, as indicated by my first name please do not suggest otherwise.

An appointment was made promptly and our Jack Russell had her assessment in a professional manor. It was agreed a small operation was needed and we felt she was in safe hands. Both timings and the estimate were correct. An expense I could have done without but was happy with the service offered. The hand written 'get well' card in our dogs leaving package was a nice touch.

If only I could add more stars. They are absolutely fantastic, caring and kind. They cared for rabbits and squirrels when other vets did not want to bother. They are a credit to their profession.

I brought my dog to Shilpi when I noticed a spot on the back of his neck growing larger with blood oozing out. Shilpi not only advised removing the blood-filled spot to relieve his discomfort but also explained the procedure and potential risks thoroughly. Thankfully, the removal went smoothly without any complications. Following a benign biopsy result, Shilpi scheduled two post-op checks, and my dog has been problem-free since. The scar has healed remarkably well, and my dog is noticeably happier after the procedure.

I am paying Medivet a monthly subscription and I am so please with the service I have received for my local vets. They are very caring with regular texts about worming and flea tablets and six months check. There is never a problem to get an appointment.
