All puppies need socialisation at an early age to help them grow into confident, happy and well-rounded adults. Introducing them to other pets, people and situations as early as possible will prevent anxious and potentially aggressive behaviour in the future.

Puppy parties are a great opportunity to introduce your new pet to a variety of dog breeds and people, including children, which is essential to their development.

Our Student Veterinary Nurse, Vera, will also be on hand, under the guidance of leading dog behaviouralist Lynda Leonard, to offer advice and training tips, encouraging your puppy to grow up into a well-behaved and obedient dog.

What happens at a puppy party?

We offer a complimentary course of four sessions of 60 minutes each every Wednesday at 7pm, covering various topics to set owners on the right track towards a well-behaved puppy. As well as reward-based training and behavioural advice, the sessions allow puppies to play together in small groups, helping them learn good manners around other dogs. This includes learning to play without being too rough or aggressive.

Our puppy parties are fun and interactive, and we encourage anyone involved in caring for your dog to come along, including children.

What should I bring with me?

Please bring your puppy’s food and/or some small training treats to reward good behaviour. Please also bring their favourite toy, their blanket and their collar and lead.

At what age should I take my puppy to puppy parties?

Generally speaking, the earlier you can attend puppy parties, the better. Young pets have an important “sensitive period” when it’s essential to socialise them. This golden window of opportunity closes between three and four months old, after which unfamiliar people, animals and situations are approached with caution, trepidation and even aggression. So, it’s essential that you start attending puppy parties as soon as possible.

Your dog must have had their first vaccination before they attend a puppy party.
