I've been a Branch Partner at Southend since 2015. I have a certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Internal Medicine and am close to completing a certificate in Cardiology. I run the hospital-side of the practice and love anything to do with internal medicine. At home I have two cats, two budgies and a giant land snail called Neal (so named as it is how my youngest daughter pronounces snail). Outside of work I spend the majority of my time with my family or rock-climbing. I travel around the world to rock-climb and have a climbing wall in my house, which I use as a training aid between trips.

Kathryn Davies

Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from Glasgow Vet School in 2005 and came to Medivet Southend in 2014. I previously had two long term jobs in small animal veterinary hospitals and spent a year travelling around the world. My main areas of interest are surgery and endoscopy and I have certificates in endoscopy and keyhole surgery as well as Advanced Veterinary Practice with a surgical bias. When not at work, I enjoy spending time with family, walking with my Romanian rescue pup Lea, and being rudely awoken in the middle of the night by my cat Syril when he wants attention.

I qualified from the University of Glasgow Vet School in July 2015 and joined the Medivet Southend team in 2019. I'm particularly interested in soft tissue surgery and ophthalmology, and hope to begin working towards an ophthalmology certificate. In my spare time I enjoy playing hockey and am in the Old Southendian Hockey Club Ladies first team. When not playing Hockey I can be found in the gym or spending time with my ever-expanding family, including my English bulldog, Lola, whom I adore.

I started with Medivet in 2019, after qualifying in 2018 at the University of Cluj-Napoca in Romania. I'm looking forward to enhancing my knowledge of internal medicine here at Medivet Southend. I used to own a cocker spaniel named Tommy who lived to the grand old age of 14. Outside of work these days my hobbies include reading and swimming, and I also take great pleasure in discovering different cultures and understanding their ways of life.

I've worked for Medivet Southend since 2015 and absolutely love my job. I find the interaction with the patients and their humans incredibly fulfilling. I was initially inspired to work in the veterinary field after visiting my local Medivet practice and meeting my vet Johan, where I take my dog Niâmh. Niâmh is a ten and a half year-old German Shepherd and she means the absolute world to me. However, at work I also have a very special place in her heart for our practice cat, Gary. Outside of work I enjoy walking in the forest with Niâmh and my family.

I recently changed to Medivet from a local vet that I’ve had for all my dogs previously. However when one of my dogs needed to be euthanised the local vet refused to allow me in but Medivet allowed me to be there to comfort her. As a result i have moved my other 2 dogs to their care and I have never been happier. Thank you Medivet

Called our local vet on a Saturday (after puppy ate some grapes) but they were closed and we were passed over to the Southend team. They booked us in very quickly and admitted her for 48 hours to flush her system and monitor. The team were friendly and professional throughout. They didn't mind the many calls we made to check on progress. Very happy with the care and service we received

Every one is very professional and friendly. The receptionists always check on my dog who is currently an inpatient. I even was allowed to visit him in the early evening. They take the time to go and check on my dog for me every time no matter how busy I they are. The nurses are very friendly and provide very good care. They make a stressful time a lot easier. Oliver is great and very professional. Excellent practice and very kind staff.

I honestly cannot highly recommend this vet practice. My 2 year old cats are under their health plan so they receive 2 yearly check ups aswell as worming/flea treatment. Whenever I need advice, they are always happy to take my call and provide me with as much information as possible to help me make an informed decision on what I should do in certain situations. My smallest cat, Muffin (3.5kg, she is tinny!) Was/is recently in hospital and has been for the past 5 days. This has been heartbreaking, but I know she's under the best care and they are doing everything they can for her. I have received phone calls every day from the vet to give me updates, and they are always so informative when I ask questions around her care. They explain everything to me, and this helps keep my mind at ease. They are also very accommodating with taking my calls throughout the day when I am calling to check up on how she is doing. The whole team, receptionists, nurses, vets etc are extremely friendly and my cats will always be under there practice 💕
