Six Figure Technology Investment Provides Enhanced Service to Merseyside Pet Owners

Pet owners in Merseyside are to benefit from a £150,000 investment in a new, state-of-the-art CT scanner at Medivet 24 Hour Alder.

Based on Eaton Road, the West Derby emergency veterinary hospital and general practice has just taken delivery of an advanced CT scanner. The new tech will enable the team to carry out scans on patients from the Merseyside area as well as surrounding practices in the north west.

Looking ahead, it can even be used to produce bespoke surgical implants with a 3D printer.

Branch Partner and veterinary surgeon Geoff Potts explains: “We are all incredibly excited to be able to offer this improved access to advanced imaging to the local pet community.”

“As well as speeding up diagnosis, CT is particularly good for identifying issues in hard to access areas and will help us intervene quicker,” he said. “It will also support us with surgical planning - allowing us to quickly examine 3D images of tumours and bone fractures, for instance. Looking ahead, it can even be used to produce bespoke surgical implants with a 3D printer,” he added.

Medivet 24 Hour Alder is one of Medivet’s numerous emergency hospitals that are open 24 hours, 365 days a year. The practice provides day and night emergency care and expertise for surrounding vets - including other Medivet branches in the north west such as Medivet Anfield, Medivet Aigburth, Medivet Brodie, Medivet Mossley Hill, Medivet Speke and Medivet Warrington.
