Warrington Vet Practice Backs Greyhounds with £500 Donation

A Warrington veterinary practice is backing one of their regular clients – the Greyhound Trust, Mersey & Cheshire branch – with a £500 donation.

The Medivet Warrington veterinary team became enamored with the tireless work of the volunteers who visit the branch weekly with the ex-racing dogs - and jumped at the chance to donate to their local Greyhound Trust.

Medivet Warrington veterinary nurse Bethany Scott explains: “As a practice, we chose to donate to the local Greyhound Trust as all the volunteers work so hard to give these dogs the chance to experience life as a family pet.

We were so impressed by the compassion and caring they displayed.

“This is especially true of lead volunteer Graham Auld, who is here at the practice most days of the week with at least one dog. He is always cheerful and friendly and demonstrates his clear love of the dogs in the affectionate way he handles them. We all hope that the money we’ve raised can help improve the lives of greyhounds as they transition from the racing track to the family home.”

As lead volunteer, Graham covers all aspects of running the Mersey & Cheshire branch; performing vet runs, ensuring high levels of welfare, fostering, fundraising, and admin duties, whilst carrying out home visits across the region and as far as Morecambe, Blackpool, and Wales.

Joanne Johnson, a fellow volunteer at The Greyhound Trust Mersey & Cheshire, commented: “Myself and Graham just can’t thank the staff at Medivet enough for this donation, which will go a long way to help the greyhounds in our care. Beyond this though, the treatment we get from the Medivet Warrington team is fantastic – they all show such a big interest in the hounds and are so incredibly kind.”

Medivet Warrington lead vet Sean Allers added: “One particular dog named Lexi was our original inspiration, she was born with a serious medical condition but was always a happy ray of sunshine whenever she came into the practice. Graham and the Greyhound Trust went absolutely above and beyond to raise the funds to get her all the treatment that was required.

“We were so impressed by the compassion and caring they displayed, we knew we needed to help."
