200,000 Clients Help Us Raise £100k Through Pennies

200,000 of our generous clients have helped us to raise a fantastic £100,000 through Pennies, the digital charity box, to fund efforts to protect rhinos in South Africa where these beautiful creatures face extinction through poaching.

Our Medivet Saving the Rhino campaign launched back in May 2015 with the Wilderness Foundation and former colleague, Dr William Fowlds, and in addition to other donations, through Pennies we have received 200,000 individual contributions from supporters to date.

We have been using Pennies, the digital charity box, to allow our clients to opt in and add a 50p donation to their veterinary bill at most of our practices. Every penny raised through Pennies is being used to help fund life-saving initiatives in South Africa to protect the rhino from the horrific poaching crisis.

In 2014, over 1,215 rhinos were poached for their horns in South Africa, making it the worst poaching year on record. In 2015, there was a slight decline taking the number down to 1,175 and although this is a positive first step, there is much more that needs to be done to help save them.

The donations received so far have gone a long way and are making huge differences to saving the rhino and protecting these beautiful creatures, which we couldn’t have done without your help.

We would like to say a special thanks to all of you who have donated – without your generous support, this would not have been possible!

Unfortunately the rhino poaching crisis is far from solved, and we need help funding key projects that will help save the rhino in South Africa.

Please help us protect these beautiful creatures from becoming extinct by donating a few pennies to our campaign.
