Pet Cremation

Cremation offers a way to help you remember your pet should the worst happen.

Find out more about what happens and the support available.

We know how hard it can be to cope with the loss of a pet, and deciding how to care for their remains can be difficult for any owner.

When you’re ready, you may want to choose to have your pet cremated. This gives you the option to have your pet’s ashes to keep, scatter or bury.

Your vet will be able to guide you through the process and support you every step of the way. Alternatively, you may want to contact your chosen crematorium directly to find out what they offer.

Individual or communal cremation

There are two options for pet cremation: individual or communal. Individual cremation means your pet will be cremated individually, and their ashes will be returned to you in your chosen urn or casket for you to keep or scatter. You may want to attend the cremation; your chosen crematorium will help you arrange this.

If you choose a communal cremation, your pet will be cremated with a small group of other pets. You won’t receive their ashes back, but a token of them will be scattered in the crematorium’s Garden of Remembrance. You can then arrange to visit the garden at any time.

Pet memorials

Many owners choose to keep their pet’s ashes in a memorial to help remember them; this could be a decorative urn, casket or keepsake photo frame. Your vet or crematorium can help you organise these if you wish.

Bereavement support

Grieving for the loss of a pet is hard for any owner, and it’s important to remember that it’s completely normal to grieve in the same way you would a person. After all, they spent their lifetime giving you love, laughter and joy.
