I graduated in Veterinary Medicine from the University of Cambridge in 2015 and since then have been working in general practice in Bedfordshire, where I have developed a special interest in ophthalmology. I was awarded a post graduate certificate in small animal ophthalmology in 2019. I am working as a dedicated ophthalmologist for the Medivet Bloomsbury branch, examining and treating routine and more complicated eye medical and surgical cases. Outside of work I enjoy doing anything active and outdoors, but particularly canicross running with my dog and riding out on my horse.

Animals are a lifelong passion of mine. Initially studying zoology at University of Sheffield then working at the Natural History Museum, I retrained as a veterinary nurse as I missed the direct contact with animals. I qualified from RVC in 2010 and worked for several years in the 24hr Blue Cross hospital in Victoria. I returned to the RVC Beaumont Sainsbury Animal Hospital where teaching student vets and nurses was a big part of the job. Recently I have been locuming in a variety of practices around London whilst looking for the perfect role - which I have found here at Medivet Bloomsbury. When not at work I love going to comedy gigs, the cinema and I am looking forward to being able to travel again.

I am a proud British Canadian that calls leafy Chiswick home where I live with my wife and two beautiful feline companions named Lilly and Daisy (the tabby and tortoiseshell respectively in the photograph). I've been in the companionship of cats since the day I was born and along with the few dogs I have also lived with, including my best childhood friend, Toby the Border Collie/Golden Retriever, wouldn't have it any other way. I couldn't imagine a life lived devoid of animal companionship. We Humans could learn a great many things from the compassion, loyalty and affection shown by our animal friends and therefore, should go to great lengths to protect them from harm and keep them happy and healthy. Outside of animals my interests mainly lie within the search for knowledge, specifically human history and the peripheries thereof such as architecture and geography. My biggest passion, however, is most probably sport. I am a season-ticket holder at a London football club as well as being quite mad for (ice)hockey seeing as though I grew up in the Great White North. It was also Canada that instilled in me the importance of kindness, civility and the power of a simple smile so, I hope I can live up to that here in London Town.

I took both my cats to get their eyes checked out, they are both getting on in their years and I thought it would be good to make sure that everything is all good with their eyes. The whole team at Bloomsbury were fantastic, they were very friendly and put myself and both of my cats at ease. Roza and Liz were very patient and caring with my cats and I even got to see photos of inside my cats eyes. I would definitely recommend Bloomsbury to anyone who wants to get their pets eyes checked out.

Vets and staff Susanna, Cecilia and Jasmin were exceptionally kind, careful and clear in explaining the reasons why our much loved cat's pain made it necessary to kill her by sedation (I hesitate to use any fashionable euphemisms), and the options for disposing of her remains. It also seems that these staff members and Medivet have been swift and accurate in processing the insurance claim that resulted, although we still await the claim's outcome. Being able to comfort our cat, and seeing her respond briefly -- despite the pain of a tumour and organ collapse -- were invaluable in anticipating the deaths of others we love and, indeed, of ourselves. What more can a cat give a human, a human a cat, and a vet both?

My partner and I brought our new puppy in for his final jabs, and honestly it was the best experience I could have asked for. They really tried to make him comfortable, and gave him biscuits and belly rubs. I am a first time pet owner, and they gave us so much advice and really made us feel at ease so much so that I feel confident that if I have any problems, I can give them a call, or just drop by. Definitely have recommended to people already!

We could not have asked for a more thorough, professional and friendly service. Nick diagnosed our cat's problem quickly and wasted no time in getting him excellent treatment. He is recovering well after surgery and we are confident that all of the veterinary advice we received was for the best. Kathryn was extremely kind, and invaluable in helping us to process our pet insurance claim. Everybody went above and beyond to keep us informed and supported at a stressful time. Would highly recommend!
