Symptom Checker

If you’re not sure whether your pet needs to see a vet, our quick and easy Symptom Checker can help. Answer a few simple questions about the signs of illness your pet is displaying and the checker will advise whether a trip to the vet is necessary and how urgently that specialist care should be given.

I graduated in France in 2004 and went on to do some research work in Australia before doing an internship in Boston (USA) to obtain a specialty internship in Emergency and Critical Care. From there I worked 8 years as an emergency vet in different parts of the UK before moving to Medivet Flitwick and becoming the Branch Partner. I love to care for my clients and their pets. Outside of work I love family time with my wife and twin girls, rock climbing, playing the guitar, reading and travelling.

I moved to the UK in 2016 from Madeira where I was born. I knew I wanted to be a vet and did my training in Portugal. After qualifying, I did a few months in a laboratory working in clinical pathology. I have a rescue cat called Sam that came into the practice as a stray. When I’m not busy looking after four-legged friends, I enjoy cooking, hiking and photography.

I’m a qualified dog groomer and I worked in an animal rescue centre before joining the Medivet Training College to become a Registered Veterinary Nurse. I’m particularly interested in canine behaviour and wildlife. When I qualify, I’d like to do an extra course in Animal Behaviour and some voluntary work around the world. I have an 11-year-old Staffordshire Bull Terrier called Crumble who’s my best friend. Outside of work, I like to travel to different countries and go to music festivals.

Before working with Medivet, I completed a foundation degree in Animal Management at Shuttleworth College. After completing the course, I knew I wanted to work with animals in the veterinary field. My main interest is canine behaviour and I'd like to study this further after I qualify. In my free time, I enjoy socialising with friends and going to see live music.

I'm currently in my first year as a Student Veterinary Nurse and I've worked at Flitwick for two years. I graduated with an honours degree in Equine Science and Rehabilitation Therapies in 2016. Prior to that, I worked for a pharmaceutical and veterinary wholesaler where I realised I wanted to be hands-on with animals and pursue a career in veterinary nursing. I have two cats, Missy and Milo and an Appaloosa horse called Fly.

Hendrix is currently being put to sleep for treatment and has been treated exceptionally well. Very impressed with the customer service, explained everything and why we were taking that course of action. Brilliant.

First visit here with our kittens, and though given the situation with Covid, we weren't able to go in with them, the vet and team were great! The process was very efficient and easy, and the kittens were happy and well looked after, definitely reccomend.

We have always been extremely happy with the service we have received from Medivet, Flitwick. We have always received caring, compassionate support whilst dealing with our dog. As we near the end of our beloved pet’s life, we have been reassured about the way it will be handle during these uncertain times. That has allowed us to spend quality time with him in the knowledge we can make the decision when the time is right.

We met the vet Thora yesterday evening at Flitwick. She gave us some excellent advice on looking after our new puppy and was very reassuring in the circumstances. Our new puppy is a rescue dog who has arrived quite suddenly in our lives in the last few days. We have been quite exhausted and it was so encouraging to discuss some issues with the vet, and benefit from her very kind advice. The puppy was very well-behaved and content as well.
