Lead Veterinary Surgeon

Alex Macleod

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I grew up in Australia and practiced there for 4 years before moving to the UK in 2017. I have an interest in all parts of general practice, everything from consulting with birds and pocket pets to surgery on our big London dogs. Outside of work I play AFL for a local team and enjoy skiing, surfing and climbing.

I've worked at Hornsey in various roles for 29 years and have loved getting to know all our local clients and pets. I have a diploma in Feline Medicine, and I’ve gained an enormous amount of experience caring for older pets. At home, I have two cats; one maine coon and a rather distinguished domestic long-haired cat.

Veterinary Nurse

I started as a cattery assistant and part-time receptionist and loved it so much that I went on to become a Veterinary Nurse. I particularly enjoy working with cats but I’m also known and loved by our dog visitors too. At home, I have a large collection of pets and I’m nicknamed ‘Noah’ for my ever-increasing animal family.

I have a degree in Veterinary Nursing and Animal Management, and I pride myself on being calm, kind and forward-thinking in all aspects of my job. Outside of work, I love looking after my seven-year-old patterdale lakeland terrier called Tinkerbell.

I’ve worked at Hornsey since January 2019 and I’ve enjoyed every second of my job so far. I’m originally from Donegal and I have a degree in Health and Social Care. I absolutely love working with animals. I have been adopted by my diva of a cat called Figaro.

Head Client Care Assistant

I qualified as a Veterinary Care Assistant in 2017 after spending four years working in various vet practices. I’ve been at Hornsey for over a year and I love working with the team and our clients. I’m especially interested in Herpetology. I have two wonderful cats, Ping and Wozzy, and in my spare time I help run two theatre companies.
