Symptom Checker

If you’re not sure whether your pet needs to see a vet, our quick and easy Symptom Checker can help. Answer a few simple questions about the signs of illness your pet is displaying and the checker will advise whether a trip to the vet is necessary and how urgently that specialist care should be given.

After qualifying as a vet in 1996 from Edinburgh University, I co-founded the practice in 2000. I'm also an Advanced Veterinary Practitioner in Veterinary Dermatology and take referrals on some cases. At home, I have three children as well as two red fox labrador retrievers, Margot and Nancy, a miniature smooth-haired daschund called Olive and a horse called Lulu. In my spare time I love to walk my dogs, watch rugby, travel and help with the horse. I also sing with my daughter in a Gareth Malone choir at the Latitude Festival.

I qualified in 1998 from Edinburgh University and, since 2001, I have dedicated my career to small animal care. I have been with the Kenilworth team for seven years, and I’m particularly interested in ophthalmology (for which I’m a certified General Practitioner) acupuncture, chronic pain clinics, medicine and dentistry. When I’m not at work, I’m mainly a taxi service for my two sons or cheering them on from the touchline of a sports game. I also love to spend time with my black Labrador called Nessie and my cat, Paz.

I trained to be a veterinary nurse after leaving school, and since then have worked in this capacity for several different veterinary practices. I recently moved from Medivet Binley to work in client care at both Leamington spa practice and Kenilworth, as I felt it was time for me to hang up my nurse's hat and have a change. Outside of work I have two daughters, a dog and two cats. I also enjoy walking, gardening, reading and pilates.

I am a huge animal lover and have an English springer spaniel called Milo, as well as pet rats.

I was a new patient, having switched away from from a Vet I'd being going to for years due to being repeatedly unhappy. From my first phone call the team where extremely helpful and welcoming. The welcome when we received when entering the practise was brilliant, and the vet was extremely helpful and gave us plenty of information, answering all our questions without rushing us.

Corky's ear was torn in a fight with another animal, but following surgery at Feldon he has made a full recovery. He was very stressed and was not always an easy patient. Many thanks to Georgina and Sarah for caring for him with such professionalism and kindness, and to Sandra for making the insurance claim process so simple and easy.

My westie has suffered from chronic skin disease for years when I lived in the U.S. Unlike other vets, Dr Simon Want has been able to accurately diagnose and treat my dog successfully enough that we've been able to cut back on medication. I cannot recommend Dr Want enough.

Why would I not, with your cheerful, friendly, engaging and knowledgeable staff in a spotless clean and welcoming environment. So many practices are made unnecessarily stressful due to cramped waiting areas and frontline staff that are so often engaged in administration that are able to barely register a civil 'Hello!' let alone the attention to their patrons. This is definitely not one of those establishments. No 10/10 from top to bottom. Great service.

The staff are always helpful , find time to answer queries or allay fears . On my last visit the nurse could see my puppy was distressed by a much bigger dog barking and calmly showed us another room . It’s things like this help make the visit more successful for the pet . All the staff are calm and friendly
