Robert Wienesen

Partner and Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified as a veterinary surgeon in 2012 from Utrecht University in the Netherlands and moved to England in 2012. I have now completed my certificate in Exotic Animal Practice, and enjoy applying all my new knowledge to cases in practice. I’ve worked for Medivet since 2014, seeing this little branch grow into a full-fledged practice, seeing both the more traditional and exotic pets. At home I have two dogs called Rufus and Baxter, a guinea pig called Porthos and a turtle called Sebastian. In my free time I enjoy working with model trains, and love spending time with my daughter.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2020 and joined the team at Lower Earley later that year as a veterinary surgeon. As well as cats and dogs, I enjoy working with wildlife and exotic pets which is what drew me to working at the Lower Earley practice under Robert. I have an interest in dentistry and am hoping to gain a further qualification in exotics as well. I am mum to my gorgeous rescue hamster Hazel - who is a very spoiled princess - and I'm sure there are many more pets in my future!

I graduated as a Veterinary Surgeon from the University of Surrey in Summer 2021 and began working at Medivet a couple of months later. I am enjoying all parts of working in general practice and getting to know the lovely clients at Lower Earley. In my spare time I practice karate and enjoy being outdoors.

Head Veterinary Nurse

I qualified as a veterinary nurse in July 2021 and entered the register in October. From this point I gained my title as HVN here at Medivet Lower Earley after previous working as practice coordinator during my studies. I have worked for Medivet since 2017 and became a permanent member of this team in 2019. Prior to nursing I gained qualifications in animal care, welfare and behaviour through Merrist Wood College and Kingston University. I have a keen interest in diagnostic imaging, inpatient care and nurse consults. In the future I am hoping to develop my skills in surgical nursing, once I return to work from maternity leave in late 2022.

I have been working for Medivet since 2018 and am due to qualify in 2022 as a RVN. I love working with exotics, so really enjoy being part of the team at Medivet Lower Earley. Due to my love of exotics, I am wanting to complete further training in exotic nursing and anaesthesia once I have qualified. At home I have two crazy cocker spaniels called Ronnie and Jack who everyone will get to know.

I started working for Medivet in December 2020 after 3 years spent travelling and working on cruise ships. I missed dry land and most importantly missed being around animals. Coming to the UK was like coming home, returning to my first career choice after so many years. I grew up surrounded by animals and was lucky enough to work in dairy farms in Australia and the UK, so following the veterinary nursing path just made sense! In September 2022 I am due to start my training as a SVN and begin attending college, which I am very much looking forward to! In my spare time I enjoy reading, keeping fit and playing with my rescue cat Echo.

I have been a SVN since April 2022 after starting to work for Medivet in April 2021. I enjoy nursing all animals, but I especially love rodents and reptiles. I have been a hamster mum for many years now, caring for them since I was 5 years old. They are my favourite species on the planet! I have one leopard tortoise called Ozzy, two musk turtles called Oaki and Kimber and a Syrian hamster called Tiabeanie….and soon to be many more!

Robert and all of the team at Lower Earley were so professional, caring and kind when they looked after little Pippin who sadly was in his final days after a long and happy life. They even dealt with the insurance for me to help me through a difficult time. I would thoroughly recommend them and my new dog is going to meet them soon!

Would 100% recommend Medivet Lower Earley. Emily was so kind to my two boys (cats) and made them feel calm whilst in with her. They’re both back home after their vaccinations extremely happy and calm boys! Will always recommend here :)

I cannot thank the staff at MediVet enough. We had been taking our staffy Odin to another vet but felt they weren’t taking us seriously, took him to MediVet for a second opinion and they have been nothing but professional, helpful and understanding. All the staff are super attentive and friendly and I couldn’t wish for a nicer practice to take my dog to!

They are always friendly and take good care of our cat. When they recommend things for his well being and always quote us some prices ahead of time as well as discuss the benefits and risks before we decide to do anything. They are also good with getting him seen last minute, especially after a neighbourhood cat has had a go at him!

Took my recently adopted very nervous dog for his first check up. All the staff were super understanding, patient and helpful with him. The vet was very also patient during his check up, took his time to allow our dog to warm up to him which allowed the vet to perform the checks with a more relaxed dog. The vet answered all our questions and my wife and I never felt time pressured during our appointment.
