I qualified in 1992 and worked in mixed practice for a year before moving to Hertfordshire. I've been at the practice for more than 20 years. I also have an interest in dermatology and soft tissue surgery. In my spare time I enjoy amatuer acting and have recently started running. I also have two cats, Benedick and Beatrice.

I love Marine Life and Wildlife. I’ve been with Medivet since September and I love my role within the practice. Currently, I’m on a waiting list to help our Medivet charity with conservation and veterinary work with the white rhinos in Africa. Travelling is something very close to my heart and I’ve been to Australia, the USA and throughout Europe. I plan on returning to Australia to volunteer in Cairns and receive a scuba diving qualification to assist with the green turtle conservation centre at the Great Barrier Reef. I have my own two lively cocker-spaniels named Honey and Jasper, as well as an aquarium of fish. I’m now training to enter veterinary nursing in the upcoming months.

The vet Paul is rude and really condescending. He actually raises his voice when speaking to him if he doesn’t agree with the conversation. My insurance company haven’t paid out which I was unaware of until today because I need to complete a form, no one told me. When I left the practice back in September I was told everything was fine and they’d received everything they needed from me. I walked into the practice today for my cat for a dental checkup and Paul was confrontational, first thing he said was about the insurance company not paying out and that they ‘left a voicemail for me in November’ we are now in February!! Trying to put all blame on me. He took one brief look in my cats mouth and said ‘its fine’.. Like he couldn’t be bothered. I’ll be getting the claim form sorted and leaving this vets. Paul cannot be arsed to properly assess pets, clearly.

DO NOT take your animals to this disgusting cowboy of a business, because a business is all they consider themselves as. Zero compassion, empathy or care towards my family’s fur baby. Paul needs his license taken away, I am absolutely appalled by his disgusting attitude in one of our most desperate and vulnerable times. Our beloved cat took a turn for the worst and when asked the simple questions of what signs to look out for and if she’s coming to end of life? His response was ‘she does have cancer and she’s going to go eventually’. Blood results were given to my family and I queried these as there was discrepancies in what Paul had told my family and what I could see from her levels. When questioned in regard to this for further elaboration his only response was ‘if you do not trust me I will not treat your animal’ and refused to treat our cat who had chemotherapy booked in for the following day. I will be taking this further. How dare you call yourselves professionals and treat people and animals in this manner.

All we’re going to say is if you’re reading this review you’re likely considering going to this vet…DON’T!! If you love your fur baby then avoid going here at all costs. Paul is the most unprofessional, insensitive unethical and rude vet we’ve met in the veterinary service . Our cat took a turn for the worse and when we called him to ask what signs to look out for and if she’s coming to end of life? He snapped down the phone reminding us ‘she does have cancer and she’s going to go eventually’ this was NOT what we asked about and we were fully aware that she will eventually go - totally uncalled for and an insensitive comment. The same day we called and asked for our cats blood results to be emailed to us and when we queried the results he started shouting down the phone telling us that if we don’t trust him he’s not going to treat our cat that was due for her second round of chemotherapy the FOLLOWING DAY after a relapse and was extremely poorly. We were left with no vet and time was not on our side….she hadn’t been eating for the last 5 days but this didn’t seem to bother Paul and he refused to treat her - all because we questioned the blood results. He brings disrepute to other vets out there that are genuinely DEVOTED to TREATING animals because they care and don’t look at it as ‘just a job’. We will not be stopping at just reviews and will be taking our concerns a step further. As a paying client we are well within our rights to ask for a copy of blood results and also entitled to question them as do humans with their own health. Clients pay for a service and part of that service is to fully explain results and answer queries in a professional manner. So be warned folks take your fur babies to another veterinary clinic as Mansfield Cottage is in our experience an extremely unprofessional and unethical business Thankfully our cat got seen by a team of oncologist professionals very swiftly and not only were they extremely caring and loving they were extremely informative and made our whole experience a positive one. Do your research first, a lesson we learned the hard way.

Paul has proved himself to be an excellent Vet over the years He has looked after my Dogs. When it was time to have my previous Dog pts it was done with so much dignity and care - she literally fell asleep in my arms Paul was very kind and sympathetic I will always be grateful to Him for that . He now treats my very nervous rescue dog - certainly not the easiest dog to treat and unfortunately needs to be muzzled Which Paul puts on and removes as soon as He can. Paul does have a no nonsense approach with Him but he is always kind and gentle and gets the job done. Thank you Paul and all the staff .

Absolutely the worst vets that we could ever encounter. We had an appointment to put our 12 year old staffy Beau to sleep on the 29th of august as her condition worsened. We called up our vets however they did not have any appointments available for us that day and relocated us to Medivet mansfield cottage. Baring in mind our dog is a 12 year old staff, back legs gave away, developed a hard lump bigger than a tennis bowl, which grew twice the size on her last days. It does not take a genius to know she had aggressive cancer, as well as the fact her mum, brothers and sisters all died of cancer. On her last days, we kept her comfortable , she slept one hour out of 24 for 5 days, constantly panting, not settling, shaking and in constant pain, EVEN WITH HER BEING HEAVILY MEDICATED. Then met….. Paul….the vet who THINKS they know it all. Two words. Disgusting and disappointed. Considering we had an appointment to put our dog down, he went on telling us he could “fix” her, and the words that came out that “vets” mouth were despicable, hurtful, words cannot describe how we felt and how we were left to feel. “I don’t understand people who don’t wanna fix their animals.” How dare he? He asked us how long has she been in the state that she was in, we told him two weeks, which then he went on to say “well you’ve waited two weeks and you’ve done nothing about it”, when we told him she has been progressively getting worse the last 5 days, it has been unbearable to watch her in so much pain as it was, especially to make this decision but to be made feel guilty by a so called “professional”? “My job is to fix animals” which any ethical vet would recognise that our baby is on her deathbed. ONLY WE KNOW IN HOW MUCH PAIN SHE HAS BEEN IN, and we are told otherwise by a vet that looked at her for 10 seconds and knows nothing about her history? I asked for a paw print which was done half heartedly, can barley see it. Asked us if we would like 5 minutes with her, of course we did, and then told us to let ourselves out when we are done. He couldn’t acknowledge that we’re in pain and our fury baby is in pain, money hungry, not ethical in any way, arrogant, nasty, rude, not friendly, this is getting taken further than just this review. Disgusted.

We would like to thank Mansfield Cottage Crossbrook Street for the sympathy card that we received following the death of our beloved dog Cassie which we thought was very kind of them. Also to thank Paul for his care over the years and sympathetic manner he dealt with the sad news when he told us that Cassie had to be put to sleep.

Not welcoming at all, they don’t like speaking to you or answering any questions. I believe they don’t like people with benefits and feel like they don’t deserve any good customer service.
