Symptom Checker

If you’re not sure whether your pet needs to see a vet, our quick and easy Symptom Checker can help. Answer a few simple questions about the signs of illness your pet is displaying and the checker will advise whether a trip to the vet is necessary and how urgently that specialist care should be given.

I joined the practice as lead vet in May 2019, having worked locally since 2014. I qualified in 2010 from the Royal Veterinary College and have been working in general practice since. I have a special interest in surgery, dermatology and geriatric pet health care, and have completed several courses to further my skills and expertise in these areas. I also have a Zoology degree from Durham University and initially worked for the BBC making science documentaries before starting my vet degree. Outside of work, I'm married with two young children. When I'm not running around after the kids or the dog, I enjoy playing and watching rugby. I also have a jack russell called Maggie who was rescued as a puppy.

I've been at the practice since January 2019 and love my job. I love that everyday is different and enjoy the challenges. At home I have two cats called Elsa & Oreo. I've had various animals since a little girl and have always felt a connection with them.

I was born and raised in Bristol before moving to Cambridge in 2014. I've worked at Medivet since September 2018. I'm thoroughly enjoying my time learning nursing. I've worked with animals since I was 18 in various different roles, and have a degree in Animal Biology from Nottingham Trent University. At home I have two cats. One is my lazy, old boy - Sam, who is 16. The other is my crazy noise maker - Chloe, she is 5.

On Christmas Eve I lost my heart pet, TJ. To everyone else he was just a rat, but to me he was my whole world. Melbourn Vets treated TJ just as I saw him, and for that I am so grateful. I am usually based up North but I had travelled home for Christmas (when COVID permitted) and despite not being a registered patient everyone at the practice welcomed me with open arms in my time of need. The vet I saw, Karen, dealt with the situation amazingly and I could truly see how much she cared. If you have the opportunity to be registered with this practice you are extremely lucky. Thank you to every staff member, you can not believe how much you made a difference to my life and TJ's death. You gave him the best death any animal owner could hope for and for that I am forever grateful 💕
