Symptom Checker

If you’re not sure whether your pet needs to see a vet, our quick and easy Symptom Checker can help. Answer a few simple questions about the signs of illness your pet is displaying and the checker will advise whether a trip to the vet is necessary and how urgently that specialist care should be given.

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I held the position of Office Manager at Stanhope whilst working part time at another local surgery in the role of Veterinary Surgeon but decided to take up the vacant position here as a permanent Veterinary surgeon. After qualifying from The University of Gent in Belgium in July 1988, I initially came to the UK to gain some valuable experience, with the view of going back to Belgium. I was so impressed with the quality of care shown in England that I decided to stay. I have worked at the PDSA for 5 years where I gained a lot of surgical experience. Most recently I worked at another local Veterinary Centre for 16 years and have a keen interest in Ultrasound and dentistry. Outside of work, I like to meet up with friends for a good meal, rambling in the Kent countryside, traveling and spending time with my family and cat Simba.

I began working with animals when I left school in 2013 and have worked in several practices in Kent. I hope to begin my training to become a registered veterinary nurse in the future. In my spare time, I enjoy keeping fit, spending time with my friends, looking after my dog Annie and looking after my friends cats when needed.

I have been working within the Veterinary industry since 2007 and qualified as a Patient Care Assistant in 2012, working in local Veterinary practices until joining the team at Stanhope in 2014, combining my nursing role alongside some administration work at the practice. I have a wonderful cat called Freddie, who is a big softy; he comes into the practice frequently as he has a heart condition that needs to be monitored. Outside of work I have recently taken up jogging and have a keen interest in outdoor pursuits, enjoying the countryside whatever the weather with my young son and husband Liam.

I studied at Hadlow College from 1999 to 2003 and have worked at other local Veterinary centres. Since completing my college course, I joined Stanhope in March 2011 and thoroughly enjoy all aspects of animal care, husbandry and welfare. Alongside my love of small animals I have a particular love of Donkeys. Outside of work I love spending time with my young family and husband Richard. When I do get a spare moment I like to relax with a visit to the cinema, reading, music and enjoying outdoor pursuits.

I have been at Stanhope since August 2011 and thoroughly enjoy all aspects of my job, especially a good cup of tea. My role is quite varied and can change every day. I look after the Facebook page and the Newsletter. I was born in the Medway towns, but in the past had moved to the Isle of Wight (which is my favourite place to still visit) and to Spalding in Lincolnshire with my husband for work commitments, finally coming home in 2004. I have worked in many different jobs ranging from admin roles, shop assistant to bingo assistant. Alongside working at the practice full time, I am currently studying for my Degree in English Literature and Creative Writing. I have 2 dogs Bailey and Grace and 4 cats, Charlie, Tinkerbelle, Perrie and Emmie. In my spare time I like to spend time with my teenage children, dog walking, reading, writing short stories, yoga, aqua aerobics, swimming, cooking, pop music and concerts.

I am very passionate about becoming a vet and started working at Stanhope in October 2018 whilst studying for my A levels. In my spare time, I enjoy singing, songwriting, and playing the guitar. I also enjoy cooking and baking something everyone here at Stanhope appreciates.
