Ana qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Universidade Vasco da Gama, Portugal in 2008. She has spent the last 10 years in first opinion practice, she joined Ani medics vets (now Medivet) in 2012. Since coming back from maternity leave, she decided to work part-time (3 days a week) so she can enjoy both worlds - professional and motherhood. She enjoys all aspects of small animal practice, particularly medicine. She has a cat called Mia. She is originally from Portugal from a little town called Mira, by the sea. But has been living in England since 2008. Out of work she enjoys balance and body combat classes to keep the body and mind healthy, going for walks at the beach/ forest with her children (Emily and Benjamin) and travelling.

I qualified as a Veterinary Surgeon from Cordoba Veterinary School, Spain in 2007. Since then, I have practiced the profession in the UK in different areas, including public health and animal welfare. I have dedicated the last 10 years in small animal practice and joined Medivet in summer 2023. I enjoy performing surgeries and meeting all kind of animals in the consult room. I love how they all make each day to feel different, but at the same time familiar, challenging and rewarding. I spend most of my time with my sons, Hector and Nolan, watching them growing up (too fast!). I like to travel and meet different people and cultures. I try to keep myself active playing tennis or exploring the countryside, and I love scuba diving and skiing. But equally, I enjoy a quiet evening with a good book or movie.

Client Care Assistant

I have been with the practice for 5 years from Ani medics to Medivet, mainly on reception but also helping in the background with pets. I have a huge passion for animals and have always dogs and cats in my life. I now have my own personal zoo at home with two boxer dogs and two cats. I am new to motherhood with my son (for those who wondered where I went for 6 months) and now back to work part time. In my down time I like to be outside where possible and spending time with my family and friends. I have been an adult instructor for somerset army cadets since 2012. I love walking with and without my dogs some distances are a bit excessive at 25 miles + . I am also a bit a crazy crochet lady with 100 + projects always on the go.

I have been working at Medivet Taunton since February 2023. I have been working in the veterinary world for four years and I have also had some experience working in an animal centre assisting with their rescue and boarding sites. I completed my Level 2 Veterinary Care Assistant qualification in 2020 and in the future, I aim to become a veterinary nurse. At home, I have a dog named Buddy and a Cockatiel named Squeak. When I'm not working, I enjoy reading, spending time with my family and learning new languages.

The team at Medivet Taunton are friendly, caring and always go above and beyond to make sure my dogs receive the best care possible, whether it’s a routine checkup or an emergency I really cannot fault them. My dogs wagging tails speak for themselves!

Dreadful care barely examined my dog. Didn't take her temperature even though she was systemically unwell and withdrawn. No comment about her chewing her paws. Refused to clean her neck even though asked to do that as daid he didnt have time. Hit a vessel giving under skin injection. Then charged me £142. I emailed the manager to ask for an explanation and no reply. Dog still chewing her feet and withdrawn, grumpy with kennel companion and acting out of character. Won't take her back will take her to a vet that cares about the animal and not about making as much money as possible from pet care. Disgraceful!

Avoid. They failed to detect a stroke in my cat and offered me an xray in 2 days if their machine was fixed as he had "only probably pulled something" Being worse the next day they referred me 18 miles away to Somerton which did have a working x-ray and the vet there identified it as neurological immediately without an x-ray and referred me to Cave where an MRI showed a stroke in 4 vertebrae. That delay could have cost my cat his life and now have weeks of physio for him to regain the use in 4 limbs! I should have left the practice in Jan after they were unable to treat him due to staffing issues but were at least able to identify a blockage in his bowel as the x-ray was at least working then! I have now left their practice due to lack of confidence in their ability since the changeover.
