I started at Heene Road Vets December 1987, while going to Brinsbury college, I was lucky enough to be offered a placement to train as a Veterinary Nurse. After qualifying I have enjoyed working at Heene Road, now Medivet Worthing ever since. I am now happily married with 2 children, while having a breather from having loyal Boxer's in our family. We now have an entertaining Cockapoo called Buster and a tolerant cat called Molly! Veterinary nursing is a very rewarding job, although sometimes very stressful and definitely not a 9 to 5 job. I have loved my years in practice, working with some amazing vets, nurses and receptionists. I have met some lovely clients and their pets, which I have enjoyed sharing over the years.

I joined the practice in 2018 as an Animal Care Assistant and in 2019 began my vet nursing career as a Student Veterinary Nurse. I qualified with a Level 3 Diploma in Veterinary Nursing in 2021, meaning I have spent my entire Registered Veterinary Nurse career within the same practice with the rest of the amazing team. I have adored animals for as long as I can remember and can honestly say I can't ever imagine myself doing anything else. It is such a rewarding job and working within the same practice has enabled me to build relationships with not all of our patients but the lovely owners too. I have a particular interest in inpatient nursing care, feline medicine and also really enjoy laboratory work. There is nothing more rewarding than seeing a patient that initially came in to us poorly go home better knowing you helped care for that animal.

I joined Medivet in October 2022 and love my role. I was a dental nurse for many years but I had always wanted to work with animals. At home I am married and have 2 daughters and 2 cats. Trying to persuade my husband to add a dog to our family! X

Our cat was older and had many co-existing ailments and so needed a lot of support, but we couldn't have asked for a better vets to help her in those final months. They went the extra mile to help us in an emergency on more that one occasion. When it was sadly time to say goodbye, the process was handled very gently and respectfully. All the staff, from the vets to the nurses and reception team, were all so considerate and compassionate on that final sad day. I can't recommend them highly enough for any other pet owners in Worthing.

Writing this review with a heavy heart. We took our pet here under the trust and care of Medivet Worthing. Where to begin. Our pet Gecko wasn’t well and we were under the assumption that they specialised in reptiles as they did see ‘exotic animals’. Upon multiple visits, they suggested various treatments such a cream which didn’t make much difference and an injection during his visit, along with two additional medications to take home to ‘force feed’ our gecko through a syringe to battle the infection. However, throughout these visits a vet suggested a reptile specialist that ‘may be able to see our pet’ but you have to ‘go through the vet’ to get the appointment. Firstly, I don’t understand why this wasn’t suggested at the beginning when our pet clearly wasn’t eating and wasn’t well and getting worse upon multiple visits to Medivet. To this, our pet was getting weaker and weaker with us trying our best to treat him at home. Following this, I emailed the vet on a Friday and I understand they aren’t a crisis service, however they are open on the weekend and we didn’t get a call until the Monday regarding my ‘urgent email’. By this time, my pet gecko was on my lap as I was caring from them under the instructions of the vet trying to give them the medications recommended. To this, our pet gecko haemorrhaged and bled out everywhere, clearly in severe pain. I put him back into his home and tried to call an emergency vet, to which was on divert to Portsmouth. Being so unwell, he most likely would have died as he wouldn’t have survived that journey. To this, the emergency team contacted Medivet regarding this, to which Medivet didn’t follow up with me (regarding the emergency vet). In the morning, I found my pet upside down in his home, passed away. Within that hour, I got a call from MediVet asking if we wanted the specialist appointment to which I shared with them the passing of my pet. To end, I took my deceased pet back there as I wanted his ashes returned to me. We weren’t given any booklet as to what the cremation fees were, it was just information relayed from a receptionist screen, which at that moment was difficult to understand as other people are in the reception and it didn’t feel at all personal or emphatic towards us or our pet. To conclude, I have picked up my geckos ashes today which was the final straw. As I went into the reception two customers were talking with a receptionist which was fine and the other receptionist was on the phone. However, the receptionist continued the conversation for a moment whilst looking at them and at their screen whist I stood there waiting to be seen. There wasn’t any acknowledgement of ‘give me a moment let me just serve this customer’. Following this, they collected his ashes and handed them to me with no other conversation made. Baring in mind it is raining, as I went to leave, the box was given to me with no bag or protection (as it is cardboard) it would get wet in the rain. I went back into the reception and asked ‘isn’t there a bag you’re able to put these in’. To which the lady went and got me a bag. She shared ‘we don’t have any see through bags to which we usually put them in but we do have standard bags’. I don’t understand why she didn’t check out with me first, instead of assuming and letting me walk out with a box as it is raining. She handed me the bag and went back to her seat. There was no offer of do you need a hand with putting the box into the bag, I stood there ‘all fingers and thumbs’ trying to put it into the bag. Baring in mind, I’ve paid a lot of money to pay for my pets ashes, not to mention the service and lack of empathy or basic customer care is shocking. I believe their tagline ‘Always there’ is a lot to be desired as I certainly didn’t feel this towards me or my pets care. I hope that no one else has to go through the process of what we went through. Empathy and understanding go a long way in this world.

I found an injured pigeon in the middle of a busy road on my way to work. I called Medivet and they were very compassionate and helpful and arranged for me to drop off the pigeon in their surgery quickly. They have great passion to help wildlife and animals and are a great asset to the Worthing. Five star service and highly recommended. Thank you so much for all your help. I was very sad to see a bird suffering like that but your help made the experience much easier.

I moved from Surrey and the transition to changes practises was quick and easy. I was then given an appointment within 24 hours of calling. Fantastic vets, very polite, helpful and first and foremost the animals come first. Time was taken with my little dog who was suffering from bad ears and the vet did everything she could to minimise stress for her.
