Jeremy Stattersfield

Veterinary Surgeon

After graduating and completing training at Cambridge University I spent some years working in Dover before opening my own surgery on Castle Street. I'm a great supporter of preventative care for ageing pets. My great passion is wildlife, and I'm always happy to be called out if a seal - or the occasional passing whale - finds itself in trouble on our shores. I'm a member of the British Small Animal Veterinary Association; Association of Avian Veterinarians, and the British Veterinary Forensic and Law Association.

I qualified from Nottingham University veterinary school. I'm particularly interested in exotic animal medicine and small animal internal medicine - especially endocrinology (hormone disorders). I enjoy climbing, kayaking and scuba diving. I also love to cook so keep the practice running with a regular supply of baked goods. I was nominated for PetPlan's national Vet of the Year in 2014 and 2015. I also work alongside Jeremy to care for our zoological clientele.

My interests are in ophthalmology, cardiology and exotics/wildlife. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, cycling and karate, as well as caring for a variety of plants.

I joined the team in April 2016, having spent time at the practice for work experience. I completed my college course in animal care and am now studying for my Veterinary Nursing qualification at Canterbury College one day a week. I often look after the kennels and wildlife here at the practice. At home I have a variety of small pets, including a mouse, a pygmy hedgehog, two dogs and several guinea pigs.

I joined the reception team after lots of years of working hands-on at a local kennels. Now happy to take a more hands-off approach, apart from occasional cuddles of course, I'm often busy furthering my veterinary knowledge. I primarily work at the Dover branch but can occasionally be found at Folkestone or Walmer when needed. Outside of work I enjoy living on a working farm and walking my border collies.

I work at our Dover and Whitfield surgeries and can most often be found cuddling visiting puppies in the reception area - a 'job' over which I claims full ownership. I enjoy client care and keeping nervous patients relaxed. I'm involved in the training of new receptionists.

I joined the team in 2016 and soon had the practice practicing their northern accents. With plenty of client care experience I comfort and care for our clients during the good times and the more difficult times.

I started at Medivet Dover in 2018 after completing my Masters degree in Zoology. Part of the management team, I enjoy the variety my role brings, two days are never the same. I'm always excited to meet the patients that visit us. In my free time I like to walk with my dog Hector, often taking my camera to snap any unusual plants or wildlife.
