Practice Story

Here’s a heartwarming example of the team's care and commitment to their community.

Last November, the team in Risedale took in Lexi, an abandoned and pregnant cat from the Hemel Hempstead area. They were committed to ensuring she was comfortable and cared for during the birth of her three kittens.

The team weaned them and watched their personalities begin to develop. They spent every break they got with the kittens, coming into the practice in the early hours and on weekends to provide the best care possible.

Sarah, a nurse at the practice, said “It’s a great opportunity for the nurses. We’re hand-rearing them and seeing them develop every day. We’ve watched them first opening their eyes, to now playing out of their cage.”

Lexi and her litter have now been rehomed, some going to the staff who couldn't resist.

I qualified in 2005 in South Korea and joined Medivet in 2007, becoming branch partner at Risedale in 2009. I've completed a programme in Equine Dentistry and Reproduction from Texas A&M University and have a masters degree in Control of Infectious Diseases in Animals. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. I'm interested in small animal surgery, specifically laparoscopic and orthorpaedic surgeries. I love the relationship I have with all our clients and their pets, and am enjoying learning and progressing in my role everyday. At home I have a rescue cat called Garlie. Garlie had several serious health issues when he was first adopted, now with our tender loving care, he is totally transformed to be a happy, content and loving cat.

Made everything easy; clear instruction on what to do on arrival (COVID regulations), excellent level of care and attention when asking about both cats and a friendly team of staff who cannot do enough for you.

As always my pet is your major concern, and the vets are always friendly and extremely good at explaining what they are doing, and why. The COVID 19 precautions are also extremely well handled

These girls are the best! Kumi and her team just seem to care so much. They've worked so hard during lockdown to keep the us safe and I think we should be so grateful. My partner takes our dog their and i hear so many wonderful reports about how much the vet cares. thank you !!!

Can't thank the staff at risedale enough, the care and compassion goes above and beyond. Especially when our handsome so much loved Buster was so so poorly. Kumi and Nicola and Jemma and the girl's done everything they could to get him better, but unfortunately Buster was too poorly and passed away. Their aftercare has never stopped and have always continued to take care of our other little fur babies and me, with so much love. Thank you again. Joey McKinlay. X
