Practice Story

Here’s a heartwarming example of the team's care and commitment to their community.

This November, the team in Risedale took in Lexi, an abandoned and pregnant cat from the Hemel Hempstead area. They were committed to ensuring she was comfortable and cared for during the birth of her three kittens.

The team will start weaning them next week and are excited to start naming them as their personalities begin to develop. They’re spending every break they get with the kittens, coming into the practice in the early hours and on weekends to provide the best care possible.

Sarah, a nurse at the practice, said “It’s a great opportunity for the nurses. We’re hand-rearing them and seeing them develop every day. We’ve watched them first opening their eyes, to now playing out of their cage.”

Lexi has settled into the practice wonderfully and has truly made herself at home. As the team think about rehoming the cats, many of the staff can't help but consider taking them home themselves. Unbeknown to Lexi and the kittens, they’re now as safe as can be with the best possible carers.

I qualified in 2005 in South Korea and joined Medivet in 2007, becoming branch partner at Risedale in 2009. I've completed a programme in Equine Dentistry and Reproduction from Texas A&M University and have a masters degree in Control of Infectious Diseases in Animals. I also hold a Postgraduate Certificate in Small Animal Surgery. I'm interested in small animal surgery, specifically laparoscopic and orthorpaedic surgeries. I love the relationship I have with all our clients and their pets, and am enjoying learning and progressing in my role everyday. At home I have a rescue cat called Garlie. Garlie had several serious health issues when he was first adopted, now with our tender loving care, he is totally transformed to be a happy, content and loving cat.

Thank you so much for making a difficult time easier and thank you for making sure Hunny, our nan’s little dog went peacefully today. You guys were so sympathetic, considerate and lovely about the whole situation. It is never easy losing a pet however the team at Risedale made us feel comfortable and at ease. We also really appreciated you guys lighting the candle for us to be able to grieve. Thank you again, Hunny will be very missed.

This vet was recommended to me by friends. They said the girls were fantastic and they were not wrong. I'm so grateful to have found a wonderful place to take my dogs. It is really reassuring knowing they are in safe hands. They offer keyhole surgery, which is pretty amazing. I read up on it and it the best / least invasive way to spay etc. I don't think any other vet in the area offers this service. if you love your animals, go to Risedale.
