Symptom Checker

If you’re not sure whether your pet needs to see a vet, our quick and easy Symptom Checker can help. Answer a few simple questions about the signs of illness your pet is displaying and the checker will advise whether a trip to the vet is necessary and how urgently that specialist care should be given.

Caroline Ewing

Lead Veterinary Surgeon

I qualified in 2013 from the University of Cambridge with degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Management Studies. Prior to joining the practice as an assistant in April 2015, I worked as a vet in both Berkshire and Surrey. I took on the role of Lead Vet in December 2017. My passion lies in surgery, both soft tissue and orthopaedic. As such, I am currently studying towards the completion of my postgraduate Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice (Surgery). Outside of the practice, I enjoy playing squash, socialising with friends and family, and skiing when I can.

I've been a qualified veterinary nurse since 1987 and have spent the majority of my career here at the Wimbledon practice. I have further qualifications in Small Animal Nutrition and Management Studies. Away from work, I spend much of my free time either at the stables, taking care of my two ponies Mai and Joy, or walking my parson russell terrier Poppy.

I’ve been in this practice since I left school in 2004; I qualified in 2009 and became Deputy Head Nurse in 2015. I deal with all the insurance claims and queries within the practice. I'm also interested and skilled in handling small dogs. At home, I have two Jack Russells named Tilly and Alfie and a Chihuahua named Rupert the bear. In my spare time I enjoy crafting, especially at Christmas time.

I started working at the practice in December 2013 and qualified as an RVN in 2017. I have since achieved the ISFM Certificate in Feline Nursing and in the future, I hope to achieve an Advanced Diploma in nursing. I am currently enjoying my role as a clinical coach; I am passionate about training the next generations of nurses. At home I have a crazy German pointer named Ghillie and a siamese cat named Orion. In the past, I’ve been lucky enough to work with both farm and zoo animals.

I’ve worked for Medivet since December 2018 and started at Wimbledon in May 2019. I’m currently enjoying studying to be a veterinary nurse at MYF college. At home I have an American Cockerpoo named Cobie. Before starting at Medivet, I used to be an air hostess and love travelling the world.

In my spare time I enjoy travelling and have spent the past four years living in Australia. Interestingly, my dog used to be best friends with a frog that lived under the shed.

Caroline is a very reliable and trustworthy vet, and is reason why I'd hesitate to move elsewhere. It's hard to find a professional you can trust, but she has been very patient with us over the years, and has offered her independent advice on difficult matters with our Newfoundland and late German Shepherd. I have nothing but respect for her. I cannot say much about other vets at the clinic, although the ones we have on occasion been seen by have been sometimes okay sometimes not. The front desk staff are always very keen and helpful. The new MediVet overlords have not made much difference to my experience, but we do not subscribe to any insurance. If this means that practitioners like Caroline are still around, then it's fine by me.

Referred by my regular vet for a ligament injury to our Golden Retriever. David Kydd is amazing. Subject knowledge is incredible and more than happy to share his experiences to ensure confidence in the treatment and subsequent follow up. A true credit to the profession. Thank you 🙂

We were referred here with our french bulldog Mabel when she sustained a complicated fracture of her elbow as a puppy involving nerve damage. Our local vets said Mr Kydd was an experienced specialist orthopaedic vet and was the best person for her operation. Mr Kydd did an amazing job with her operation and advised us fully how best to care for her as she recovered. Mabel is now 4 years old and her elbow is doing amazingly given the injury she had. Thank you very much for taking care of our dog and doing such an amazing job with her. I would highly recommend this vets to others, especially Mr Kydd for his orthopaedic expertise.

Rarely do I find the time to post reviews but the care our dog has received by David Kydd here has been exemplary. The time, care, explanations, attention to detail etc has been far better than I could have hoped for . Even had he been a human with private medical care his care was outstanding . If you have an unwell animal, particularly a dog with an orthopedic issue, please don’t hesitate to book an appointment with him. I’m so impressed and very grateful. Thank you.

Kydd & Kydd looked after our staffy girl from a toddler. She had a knee replacement, which enabled her to have a full life. There duty of care for ear infections were realistic. 14 and a half years later she developed a neurological problem in her spinal nerve system, making her semi paralyzed from her waist down, making walking and going to the toilet difficult. Other than that she was in great health. We knew what was to happen but they explained it to our young son. We took her home to explain more and say goodbye and then, whilst our son was at school she was laid to rest. As an experienced dog owner, this was the most peaceful and the doctors and nurses were very kind as it was my husband's first time. They were very respectful and the ashes came back very well. The costs of treatment are of standard for good quality. They are flexible too with appointments. Its a very busy junction but if you have pets/children, cars will stop to cross.

Medivet Wimbledon have amazing staff. David Kydd ( & previously his father) have been are only choice of vet practice. David employs such great vets, nurses & admin staff. OK, I know it’s not probably David personally in all appointments but the staff have the caring Kydd ethos. Caroline, who was Doris’ vet, went above and beyond, ferrying her to other Medivet practices to ensure she got the best treatment & care. That is a benefit of Medivet. There is a wider support system than a standalone vet. The love that the nursing staff show for all pets that come in is brilliant & the reception staff are always welcoming & helpful. Doris, who was over 13, sadly died a couple of weeks ago. Tomorrow we go to collect her & I know that whichever staff we see will be there with a box of tissues in hand for me & a hug.
